Hi I am trying to control either a samsung me55c or me46c using rs-232 and real-term. Totally new to this (im an installer, but not a programmer) I have read the manual and got the codes. I purchased a 5v usb serial FTDI cable from here;

[Link: dontronics-shop.com]

I have connected to the rs-232 port in on the display. I have set;
baud, 9600
parity none
data 8bits
stop bits 1
flow control none.

I opened up the port and nothing happened when i sent the following command
"0xAA,0x11,0xFF,0x01,0x01,0x11"

Which should turn power on. Only the tx was lighting up in the rhs of real term. I swapped the tx and rx around on my cable and now whenever I send a command it strips out the "0x" and spits it back to me, but does nothing. The tx and rx light up now.

I have entered service menu and made sure rs-232 is on uart. I have also tried setting it on debug with no different response.

What am i missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

EDIT:Found the problem. I was using a 5v logic level cable. Samsung rs-232 is full voltage rs232. Used a different rs232 cable and adaptors and it all works great now.

Is the port on the back labeled service or labeled anynet?

Or use the correct checksum...

0xAA,0x11,0xFF,0x01,0x01,0x12

Hi, thank you for your answers. Sorry about my slow reply, got pulled in a million directions at once this week. the me55 is a commercial panel so it has rs-232c in and out. The port is labelled as rs-232 in. i have also tried in the port labelled rs-232c out. No love. I realised afterwards I got the checksum wrong, thank you for the correction. Unfortunately I still am not getting anything. Im thinking it might be worthwhile trying a different program. Im using using realterm at the moment. any other suggestions to test commands?
