I've been searching around trying to find a solution for my problem. I currently have a Krell HTS processor that has a failing remote. I believe it is the IR sensor on the processor that is faulty. I would like to know if there is a low-cost simple controller that I can program to send RS-232 to this single unit only. I've looked at Crestron stuff and it's generally very expensive and designed to control many pieces of equipment.

Pro Control?
What do you mean you wanted it on the other wall - couldn't you have mentioned this when we prewired?

I think you may find it cheaper to have the Krell repaired.

These controllers do a good job for a low price, they also have IR devices that can be integrated. http://www.rs232ledcontroller.com/

Our Automation company uses a mini-server that is able to communicate through RS-232, RS-485, LAN, and IR. It also includes relays to control lighting. You can use push buttons switches or our apps to communicate with the it. Our mini-server is much more than a remote control. You can configure any intelligence you want to impact into it.
