Hello,
So i want to be able to use an IR remote of my choosing, receive the IR code and output a 232 string unique to the button being pressed.
I have a Crestron MP2E i got for free and DO NOT want to waste money on a crestron/rti remote + Crestron RF receiver.
I only have a small system at home so doesnt need super complex UI and I like hard buttons way way more than a touch interface (iAnything).
So i need a 'Dumb' device, as in it doesnt have to read the IR and send a specific 232 code. I can program all that in the crestron.
i believe this is what i need but im not 100% sure these will do what i want.
Celadon this looks good but cant see any for sale. Also it says it programmed to recognise 6 common ir protocols: NEC, RC5, Sony, Mitsi, Toshiba and Matsushita. Soooo does this mean others brand remotes will work or what?
Also found this on
eBay nice and cheap... yeah probably a quality product. But it doesnt really have to do a lot. I'll proably buy one but i takes 3-4 weeks to arrive.
Has anyone used anything like this? Was it reliable?
So the system will work like this, i press DVD button on my remote, it spits out a code for some device i dont have ---> the recevier receives the ir and in turn, sends 'some' data out a default baud out the a DB9 ---> to the mp2e 232 port which i program to recognise the unique data, and control the differant av equipement i have to power on if needed and setup dvd mode.
Very simple....unless what i buy doesnt send any serial strings.
Cheers.
Isaac.
