Hi,
If you prefer to work with IP in order to control RS232 device, you can use a serial device server which make RS232 to ethernet conversion like the one in this link: [Link: telkolink.com]

have tested a few of these devices and have found them to be unreliable, one which turned out to be very good was a device made by Moxa but they were quite expensive
