The Just Add Power office is closed for Memorial Day today, but I'll subscribe to this thread if you need to get something done before we're back in the office tomorrow.

The 2G RS232 ports can be configured many different ways, to do different control functions. For starters, you can pair a Transmitter/Receiver to create a virtual RS232 over IP cable, where your control system is connected to the Transmitter RS232 port, and then the device attached to the Receiver RS232 port can be controlled from the rack. This is done by configuring your 2G's for either Type-1 or Type-2 RS232 over IP (documented in the Dealer 2G Reference Manual PDF available on our website in Support/Downloads/Manuals).

Beyond that, it is possible to configure all of the 2G RS232 ports (Transmitters and Receivers) to be linked to the control system over a single IP connection. This allows you to have simultaneous 2-way RS232 communications with every 2G device, independent of the HDMI over IP matrix. This requires more advanced switch configuration, which we can teach you how to do.

Just tell us what you want to accomplish with the RS232 ports, and we'll teach you how to do it.
