After attempting to implement a couple of features that I thought would carry over from previous HR receivers to the HR34 I've come to find out that they are not implemented on the HR34. The features both have to do with using custom remotes with the unit. The first is using the USB port with RS232 formatted commands. The second is using the IR Input on the back of the receiver. It turns out that neither of these features are operable on the HR34. Does anyone know if or when either of these might be added? I assume they pushed to get the new receiver out and didn't get the software done in time. Note the lack of the new GUI. A software update release plan and schedule would be nice to see.

I am thinking of getting one as well and would really prefer to control the unit via RS-232 as I'm currently doing with my existing DIRECTV equipment.

Any updates on this yet? Has the HR34 been updated to support RS232 via USB?
