I'm have a bit of trouble with this plasma TV. The serial port only seems to respond to status queries when the TV is ON. When the TV is off, no response is received.
I'm using Extron controllers, IPL T S6 for some and MLC-104IP+ for others. Both types of controllers exibit this same symptom. After the the TV does not respond to the controller's request for status while off, the Extron thinks the TV is disconnected. This means I cannot set up a condition that sends an email when the TV goes disconnected.
I've worked with other LG TVs and they work fine with Extron. Extron has reviewed their driver and they say the trouble is with the set. I've talked with LG Commercial Support as well, and they say there is no way to make the RS-232 port active all the time.
Do any of you know of a way to make the serial port on these LG TVs active when the set is off?

Why would they say that? If the RS-232 port isn't active while off there would be no way to get any commands to go through when the set is off. Are you sure the code is the same for the monitor you are using?

The only command the set responds to when it is OFF is the ON command. It just will not respond to status requests when it is OFF.
