hello - happy new year!

i have little experience with COM/RS232 interface programming, but i think with a bit of help i can get my head around anything :)

i have a power analyser instrument that stores its values and they can be downloaded via a rs232 connection.

i have the required lead that connects the meter to the pc (linux).

i have no manual or software for it and a quick chat with suppliers indicates it is now unsupported and no one seems to know what to suggest.

if any one 'qualified' is interested, please can you firstly suggest how i might initiate a comm session with the meter from the pc and see what gets dumped so to speak.

then i may be able to construct a program to use the data etc.

?

thank you for any assistance.

Model # and Device Manufacturer would be helpful.
