I am trying to establish exactly what is supported by some of my equipment. As most of you know, it's not always easy to find answers to questions like these, so hope someone who already knows can help.

Obviously these all work with IR, but what about IP and/or RS232?

Yamaha:
- DSP-Z11. Has serial and ethernet ports and I believe it can be controlled through both. Does it use the same codes as the Z7?
- DSP-Z9. This only has RS232 (no ethernet, so no IP) but I've not found any codes. Are they the same as the Z11? Z9? Something else entirely?

Panasonic:
These both have ethernet, but no serial.
- DMR-BS850
- DMR-BWT800
Are either/both of these controllable via IP?

As has been said elsewhere, it's almost criminal that even in 2011 manufacturers are not universally including an ethernet port on all devices and even when they do, they may not have included IP control. In the meantime, we, the users are left trying to establish just what does actually work.

So would appreciate any info on the above.

I too am interested in controlling a network enabled Panasonic device, specifically a DMP-BDT110 (a networked Blue-Ray). It is supported by Panasonic's "Remote 2011", which is an app to control it using a Apple device, but my interest is in using TouchControl and a PC.

On this site, there is a document defining how to control a Panasonic TV using the Service Port and a PC, but not the Ethernet port. Using the Service port, the "Power On" command appears to be [STX][PON][ETX] but without the brackets. I was not successful at getting this to work as the command format over Ethernet. Of course Panny was not willing to share the Ethernet format.

Does anyone know what command format is used for Panasonic's Remote 2011 software?

Or possibly what port is used?

Thanks to input from mdavej and XARiUS, I found what I was looking for in terms of the technical details needed to control a Panasonic DMP-BDT110/210/310 unit using IP over a 802.11 network. Then I successfully controlled my device using a laptop or iPxx device thanks to Fulltopuk as well as TouchControl after some tweaks on HTTP POST made by its developer.

The technical details on the command format (again thanks to mdavej and XARiUS) can be found in the following post: [Link: avsforum.com].

My TouchControl device layout has been designed and is available at that site, if needed: www.touch-ir.com/. I have no affiliation to TouchControl other than I am a very impressed user (more on that in this post [Link: avsforum.com]).

NOTE: Please note that STOP does not work on my DMP-BDT110 and I am looking for a command for the Display button. Also, if anyone knows of any Status commands for the Panny DMP-BDTx10s, that would be nice to know as well.
