I have a sony STR-DA6400ES. I'm controling it bij RS232 with a global caché and Ipad. Now i would like to have the feedabck, but i'm struggeling with the commands. This is how i have to ask the status of main room: 0x02 0x03 0xa0 0x82 0x00 0xdb, so far no problem. But i don't understand the feedack.
I would like to have the feedback status of: Mute, Volume, Input, power.
In the sony doc the response of status command is: 0x02 0x07 0xa8 0x82 0x00 0x10 0x10 0x01 0x00 0xb1 where: 0x00: for main room on??? 0x10: audio function on video 1 0x10: video fonction on video 1 0x01 : what is this? 0x00: what is this? 0xb1: checksum
but where is my mute status, volume satus, and power status? I anyone can help, i would appreciate

jpcolin,
I am working on the same thing - controlling a Sony receiver via RS-232 and Global Cache for control via iPad. I am curious what control software you are using? I am using iRule.
I have all of the communication to the reciever going quite well, but I am trying to figure out how to make the feedback commands work (for 2-way feedback with volume control, etc.). Have you made any progrss on this since your last post?
Also, do you (or anyone) have the hex codes for power toggle and mute toggle for Sony receivers? I have the dicrete codes of course, but the toggle codes don't seem to be listed in the protocal spec.

mwijas,
sorry i did not see your reply! wel i didn't have time to work on that, maybe in the coming weeks... I'm using Iviewer (command fusion), this give me the possibility to use javasrcipt to calculate the checksum. But i'm nowhere in JS, so still have to work on it. Besides I don't understand the feedbacks (response) of the sony wel, with those bytes...
I don't have the toggle code for mute and power. why would you want to use that? discrete is much beter..
