I have been using this program for about 8 years , it is by far the best RS232 terminal program i have ever used.

You can save serial string in files and call them back for testing.

its a great debugging tool

Note

to send a HEX string you send like this

$04$03$0D

Ascii like this

Test

Ascii with hex terminator
test$0D

Enjoy

i use this free one. it can import commands from files like yours but also has other functionality built into it outside of rs232 that makes it a decent Swiss knife utility software for me.

Boy, I hate to bring up this old post, but aparently something was deleted, does anyone know what the original program was that they are referring to? I do use Hercules as well, but I'm looking for some oldie but goodie RS-232 programs to use when the going gets tough.

I agree it is nice little program, but when a lot of data is sent it often crashes..

It it great program to test simple stuff but for anything more advanced or when more data is sent you need some advanced terminal such as
http://docklight.de/
or similar..

Docklight is also RS232 terminal program, but it also has TCP/UDP terminal.
And one cool thing is its adaptive macros with joker characters
Same as in terminal.exe you mentioned, but you can change some part of the macro each time it is sent.
For example if it is defined as
CONFIG=**\n\r
then when you send that macro string to serial port you are prompted each time for ** part of the macro, while the rest of the string is sent automatically.

Useful when naving commands to send in terminal to microcontroller or some other device :)
