I'm needing a specific serial string for Yamaha RX-A series Receivers.

The problem is long to explain but I need the Tuner command for switching to Mono tuning mode. I'll paste from the Yamaha RS-232 manual for this model the string I need converted. I don't fully understand this new format its showing so I'm turning to you guys.

AUDIOMODE
[PUT Command]
@HDRADIO:AUDIOMODE=Parameter
[GET Command]
@HDRADIO:AUDIOMODE=?
Operating & retrieving current playback mode when tuned
Initial Auto Feedback is Available
[Parameters]
Auto
PUT: selecting Auto mode. / GET: indicating Auto mode
This is a mode that automatically selects available HD stations, playback in Stereo, and mutes the sound when no HD/stereo reception is available.
Mono
PUT: selecting Mono mode. / GET: indicating Mono mode
This is a mode to force the reception to be an analog domein (not HD's digital domein) and to be a monaural (used when the reception is weak and easily gets muted).

I guess the problem is that this string is in ASCII and I need HEX?

Please advise, maybe I'm approaching this wrong?

No you don't need hex, you should be able to do this with Hyperterminal.

@HDRADIO:AUDIOMODE=Mono

is the string, are you ending it with cr/lf?

As i remember :

9600
8 data bits
1 stop bit
no parity
handshaking off

And i have found one command :
PUT
"@SYS:MODELNAME=SOMENAME" to set name for device .
GET
"@SYS:MODELNAME=?" to ask for name of device .

Here you can fing manual, I hop it will help !
