the protocol is similar to the RS232 protocol.  Its called Onkyo ISCP.  In fact its the same commands with a TCPIP wrapper.

I use it to control my 80.2 via a BITWISE controls controller with a ipad application.

Which has the details in an excel file.  Let me know if you need help in getting it to work.

Its kinda tricky until you get the hang of the packet construction.
