I am trying to control it via rs232, when connected via hyper terminal I am able to receive commands however unable to send any. When I turn unit off I get command line: @PWR:1 and @PWR:2 for on. I copy exact command but unit does not respond.

Do you have problems sending ANY command or just power ON? When your receiver is in economy mode, it will not receive the rs232 power ON command. You need to change this setting in the menu.
I hate to see you go, but I love to watch you leave

Any command, the SR5005 does not have an economy mode. Have no problem communicating with the SR5004, and Marantz tell me they are the same?

hey a year later... did you or anyone find a fix for the 5005 232 commands? I have two that are still a year later running on ir and it sucks. I downloaded the hex from marantz and none of the codes work..
Using an msc-400 btw.. URC rocks! well most of the time

I'll get right on that for you Jarrel and thanks for your contribution to the forum so far. Great work.
I guarantee I'll tell you the truth and I guarantee I'll tell you what you need to know but I can't guarantee that I'll be telling you anything you want to hear.

Ok Jarrel, i'm a nicer guy than that. The codes are the same as previous BD players like the 5004, 7003 etc and you can download a document here
[Link: us.marantz.com]

just enter the type of device then enter the model in the next entry and i think the top selection is a document with all the control codes including hex.

However if you want it, you can come back here to read this response instead of asking us to do the work for you then email it to you. We are not your employee's and I'm not emailing it to you, purely on principal.

I think your RS232 codes are wrong. Marantz switched over to the denon Protocol for the SR'05 series. I think power on is PWON\x0D. I've got a SR7005, and they work for me.
