I got a reply from Samsung at long last.

There reply was" this information is commercially sensitive" so cannot be released .

Samsung GET A LIFE!

I have never dealt with a company that has been so difficult to get support from.

Still have 2 unresolved issues so im guessing there take another 3 months :(

Word.

On the phone for a full hour and having to supply proof of purchase to get the 232 protocol for the commercial LCDs. I'm looking for series 7 IP control too, good luck.

A@V& has the RS232 codes if that helps. I talked to Samsung at CEDIA Expo and they were surprised they have not been distributed out.

Has anyone tried the rs232 codes? I have them working over ip using an itach serial to ip adapter. The only problem is that the power on code doesn't work unless you send it immediately after powering off. It seems that the tv shuts down power to the port while in standby mode. Who's the genius that came up with that idea!

Does anyone know of a fix for this? If I have to use ir to turn the tv on, then it kind of defeats the purpose.

I've turn off power saving mode in the regular menu. And I don't see anything relating to power saving in the service menu.

Btw- I have a un55b8500

Which port did you use for the iTach?
Thanks-

I have captured some of the traffic, however it looks like it is setting up a UPnP connection.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Plug_and_Play#Description
As far as i can tell there are no strings that you can just send the TV for control.
At a minimum you will need to create a UPnP control point in your programming.

I will try to spend a little more time with it later today to see if i can reuse the packets from an established UPnP connection without renegotiating a new connection.

well as of now it looks like this is a dead end, The TV shuts off its ethernet adaptor when the TV powers down. As far as i can tell there would be no way to turn it back on without IR

it's still a dead end until Samsung leaves the ethernet port active in standby mode.
