The link to the user manual does not seem to work on the Hitachi site. If someone has this documentation would they mind sharing?

Thanks!

cables-to-go have it (soldered or extension cords). Unfortunately it sticks below TV line - need to work hard to hide it.

As far as commands, coudn't make it work.

The manual states:
9600, 7-bit, 1-start, 1-stop, no parity

After I left the site i got to think if 7-bit plus 1 start equals 8-bit, making it standard 9600,8,none,1?

P-ON i got is \x026E0000000001\x03

Anyone made it work?

To answer myself...
I finally got it working.
If you translate Japanese English to American, you will see answer right in the manual (page 3). Unit will not accept RS232 commands unless set into terminal mode. When set, it will not accept IR commands. Hard power off resets terminal mode to off. Therefore I suggest every P-ON command starts with terminal enable command...
Now, If I had any luck with controlling Pantel mirror TV, that would be peachy...

I am programming 3 Hitachi TV's next week all in the same room. So, RS232 is the preferred way. I use Universal MSC400, and today ordered some DB9(F) to DIN8(M) adaptors. MSC400 uses stereo mini jack-DB9 cables. I like to get your final settingsm(i.e. 7 vs 8 bit) and any specific info on the cabling etc.

Also, is there any difference between the normal & wired remote commands? In normal commands you set the volume to a number, and in wired remote you can raise/lower the volume.

Also, do you have access to the RS232 commands for Motorola (Comcast) Cable boxes?

Thank you.

9600,7,1,none
Need to send \x05 command to enable serial. If you do "test" you should receive \x06 (OK) command back. Then you know all connections and settings are fine.
If not, make sure that pin layout in the manual matches what you created (continuity tester...) - my guys screwed 2 out of three - so it is possible...
Every hard power off resets terminal mode (geek-speak for RS232 will not work no more), so I suggest sending enable command together with power on.
remember, when in terminal mode (RS232) IR does NOT work...
Good Luck

Updated location for the RS232 codes. I have to get 6 of these working in the same room using RS232 with a TSU9800, RFX 9600.

To clarify enable terminal on (x05) should be sent before the power on (\x026E0000000001\x03). Is their any delay with the RS232 before I can send the input command?
Does this look correct to select the HDMI input (x026F00000000012\x03)
