I'd like to install a Russound C5, SMS3 and iBridge audio system. The idea is to get this up and running quickly so my wife is happy while I program the central remote, then move on to the video components.

But I can't find RS232 control codes for any Russound devices. Can anyone help me here???

I could program the remote using IR, but this seems like a slower, less flexible and less reliable alternative.

regards,

tbr

Try URC's MSC-400.

Nevo & Pronto are fine also. I use RTI and it works great, but it's a dealer only line. All the Russound RS-232 docs are right on their website (no login required). Search around - it's pretty easy to find.

Have fun with the Russound 232 protocol... you may beg for IR after you are done with the bitwise and'ing checksums.

If you can get Integration Designer (RTI software) it comes with a 232 library that includes a boatload of Russound commands.

A boat load of incorrect 232 commands... thanks to me I think. You may have tuner 1 commands that work but forget the tuner 2 commands.

What remote are you using first off, also are you needing 2 way or one way? If just one way try Russound's web site or contact me as I do have the protocol information for Russound. If 2 way is what you want, can you write script code? If not, I would agree with "tgrugett" and say good luck with that one. By the way Russound just released a new script for Pronto TSU9600 that will control up to 48 zones, SMS3 player, iBridge, ST tuners all 2 way. You can get it from either Philips or Russound.

Can you post a sample string confirmed to work for the XM section of a standalone ST2 dual tuner? I tried 00, 01 and 02 as the device ID with no luck. I understood the painful checksum process and it worked for tuner 1 (AM/FM). I even used the sample strings from the manual for tuner 2 examples with no luck.

Oh did you contribute that part of the command library? Thanks if you did, the ones I needed worked.

My god that protocol sucks. I love when engineers like to show how clever they are...

If you use URC remotes, they post the command set off of their forum I believe. Works well with MX900 and MX980. Come to think of it, those are for the Cav6.6 and the MCA-E5 I believe. Hopefully they didn't change the protocol too much cause it is a pain.
