I was told that the H21 RS232 commands in the RTI library are bad, does anybody have good commands to share with me?

Yeah, I know the codes need to be changed to hex. I am asking if anybody (mega232list, RTI master) has updated the flies so that they are the correct commands.

Well, I finally did this install today and the codes in the RTI master 232 library worked fine. I didn't have to go into the properties and conveert to hex like mentioned above.

And Glack hooked me up with the channel commands too! Thanks alot! These commands are awsome, so fast and reliable. I used them to replace all of my favorite channels and XM scrolling list macros. I didn't think the channel commands were going to work with the H21, I thought it was only for the pro model DVR. Anyway, I am glad I tried them because it made my day.

I’m really looking forward to controlling the DirecTV boxes rs-232. I got the RTI lib but how do I do the direct channel jump? This is huge for the XM list!
The least expensive short term solution usually turns out to be the most expensive long term solution.

Check your email

I feel it is my duty to pass these commands on to you because glack sent them to me.

PS they work great in the scrolling list too! (for your XM)

You will need one USB adapter per DTV box. What is your email address? I will send you the direct channel commands.

I have reset the box twice (HR21-100 and H21-100) and still have no control over them. The light on the GUC232A is not on. Anyone have any suggestions?

Are you using a null modem?

Make sure firmware is up to date on the DTV box

Post your power on and channel 202 strings.

Yep I have the null modem adapter. The current version on the direct tv box is ox34c

I am going through the gpio port #8 and have the software set to CM Port 8. Right now the only commands I put on the remote were ch + and ch -.

Is the light supposed to be on on the guc232a?

Try to disconnect power from the unit, insert the USB adapter, power up the receiver and see if you get a response after the unit has booted up completely. Try this hex command FA A5 00 01 A1 and see if you get the "Info" screen up on your display. Either that or it sounds like you may have a bad USB to serial adapter.

No, not that I have ever seen.

Not sure what to tell you, it's always worked for me no problem. Did you rewrite the RS232 commands so they are in Hex?
