I am successfully controlling this receiver via RS232, and most of the status request commands work properly with the exception of the Sirius tuner status requests.

These are the codes that I am using from the code list provided by Marantz:
SIRIUS
 Station Name
  @CHN#?\r
SIRIUS
 Artist Name
  @ARN#?\r
SIRIUS
 Song Title
  @SON#?\r
SIRIUS
 Composer
  @CTN#?\r
SIRIUS
 Category Name
  @CTN#?\r

They all come back as @ with a square next to it.  I'm guessing this means that the receiver doesnt recognize the command.

They should come back as @CHN#xxxxxxxx   (where the x's are the station name)

What is also strange, is that if I send the XM status request commands (which I don't have connected) it returns the command and a bunch of blank characters.  This makes me think that an XM tuner would be working just fine with these commands.

I am using a SCH2P sirius tuner plugged directly into the sirius port of the Marantz receiver.  All the channel and song info show up properly on the Marantz display.  I tried the command via Hyperterminal and a Nevo Q50.  Same result with both attempts.

Has anyone been able to make this work?

I have the same problem. I also have a direct Marantz custom installer tech support ID, and they swear it works for them. Problem is, the guy there can't even tell me for sure what model Sirius tuner they have: "well, it's the small box." Real helpful. I'm sucking wind, and going to try controlling it direct next ... or just selling my customer a full-blown Sirius tuner.

 in the end, i didnt get it to work.  you can still control it just fine, but the feedback doesnt work on the RS232.   Good luck controlling it via direct Serial, the protocol is very complicated.
