I posted this message in other forums but I think this is the best forum for my questions. The isssue is that I can not get my elan z630 to talk to my z100 keypads. When you go to the manual it says its a dipswitch problem or 485 wires being reversed. However we have ruled this out. I believe it comes down to an error on the punch board or a bad ir port on the component. I did plug my individual keypad into the port and it did not light up. I set it for zone 1 and then cut wire 2 and wire 3 but left the rs485 wires and the 12 volt and ground. I did measure voltage out from the port at 12 v. This elan was previously repaired by me because of bad power capacitors. I replaced all capacitors involving the power source.

Here are the questions:
What other components could go bad causing the rj45 port to have bad rs485 wires. ? bad resisters etc.

Is there anyone out there that could identify the rs486 system in my preamp if i email pictures. I would then replace all involve components.

The weird thing is I have two separate z630 and neither of them light the KP. However I did by them off ebay when my originals went bad and maybe i was sold bad gear also. also any one know how to test the 486 or how to create a short leash using proper pin config.
