What equipment would you recommend for recording an infrared signal that is not pulse width modulation? In other words, the signal is not modulated at any common carrier frequency such as 36 Khz, 38 Khz, 56 Khz, 455 Khz, etc...

If I want to record a signal that is simply on off keying (OOK), then what equipment would you recommend?

Also, if I want to play back the signal with OOK and not on a carrier signal, what would be the solution?

I was looking at IRTrans (http://www.irtrans.de), but it doesn't seem to have this functionality.

I could go the custom route with lirc (http://www.lirc.org), but I am not sure.

Does anyone here have any experience with this?
