I am living in an older apartment complex which is only wired with 2 wires and does not have a ground pin on the electrical outlets.

I would like to employ X10 for some simple lighting controls using plugin modules, but I am not sure if X10 will work without an available ground pin. Will the signal be sent without it??

You will have no problem with X-10. The ground is, in most new homes, not even hooked up to the switchs, only the outlets. X-10 switches don’t have a place to hook up the ground anyway.

Some of the fancier dimmer switches require a ground, so just make sure you check before purchasing. If it is required it'll most likely say so.
