Sometimes during an electrical storm I like to unplug my A/V equipment just to be safe. Would plugging them into an appliance module and turning it off be as good as unplugging or would I still be connected somewhat to the AC line.
Thanks

Jim,

This definitely would not be as safe as unplugging the equipment, or plugging the equipment into a good surge supressor.

I suggest that all expensive electrical equipment should be plugged into at LEAST a good surge protector. It should cost at least $60, have the highest joule rating you can find along with a decent "insurance" warranty.
