Can someone help me out with this...

I have an IR543 and the ccf file for my pronto...What would I need to get in order to get control of my ceiling fan? Currently, its on a wall switch and strings that control the the light and fan speed - can this be controlled with the Pronto?

Also - is there some sort of generic device that will control the tilt of some horizontal blinds that are in the living room? I'm not so concerned about raising/lowering.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Jim:

Yes to both of your questions. We offer the products required to control ceiling fans (several types) and blinds. The Pronto can be used as the front end for both.

Please send us an e-mail for additional information.

Kurt,

I'm not familiar with different models and brands of ceiling fans. But, if the fan is controlled with a supplied RF remote, generally it cannot be controlled by X-10. This is also the case if the fan uses a special wall switch that was supplied with the fan.

If the fan is controlled by standard on/off wall switch or an inductive dimmer wall switch (special type for ceiling fans), the switch can usually be replaced with an X-10 controlled type. If the fan has no wall switch and is controlled by a chain on the fan, this can also normally be controlled by an X-10 in-line receiver that is placed in the electrical box above the fan.

If you have any specific questions about your application please send me an e-mail.

My ceiling fan with lights can be controlled on supplied remote and strings, no On/Off wall switch. The remote can control dim/bright lights and 3 speeds ceiling fan, and 2 strings: 1 for fans and 1 for On/Off lights. Is this possible for replacement to control with X-10 line?

It is possible to use an in-line X-10 receiver (installed in the ceiling fan box) but that would make the fan's supplied remote unusable. All control of the fan would then only be with X-10 commands. Also, the light would dim/brigten as you changed the fan speed via X-10 commands which may not be desirable.
