I thought I would control my Mr coffee machine using an appliance module AM466, seemed simple enough to me. But when I turn the AM466 off the light on the coffee machine only dims, does not turn off completly. I tried a different appliance module and the same thing. The funny thing is right after I plug in the module I can turn the coffee machine on/off completly, but the above problem starts after its been on for about 5 minutes.
Thanks

Jim:

The operation you are experiencing is normal for an appliance or lamp module. The dim light on the switch is being lit by the very low current that always passes through a module for the local control feature. Even though you see the coffee maker switch lit dimly, your coffee maker is not on. The module always passes a very low amount of current through so it can sense a local control request. This low amount of current is enough to light up the small lamp in the switch.

The local control feature is there so that you can turn the appliance module (or lamp module) ON by turning the device ON/OFF/ON quickly. If you try this with your coffee maker you should see the switch light up brightly as module supplies the full amount of current.

Thanks for your reply Robert. I did not want to use it because I thought it was not turning off. But I will go ahead and use it and ignore the dim light. The instructions that come with the X10 controls are very limited so I did not know if this was normal.
