For 10 or 15 years I have kept an old PC around for the sole purpose of updating my old CP290 controller once or twice a year. Unfortunately, that PC hard drive has failed. It used DOS to control the CP290 via a COM1 port. (I am embarrassed to say I have no program backup. ...stupid mistake!)
Does anyone have a copy of that old X10 DOS program? Or does anyone know of a windows program that I can use for X10 control via a COM1 port? The cable I have is COM1. I have seen some windows programs but they all work via USB.
Or does anyone know of a CP290 cable that uses USB?
I hate to throw the CP290 away now. It still works great every day, but the well-known timekeeping issue has it about 2 hours off now, so I need to update it.
Any help will be appreciated! Doug

You can purchase a USB to Serial cable and use the windows programs. Keyspan is one brand - I have one and it works just fine.
