I recently ordered a free starter system from x10 and would like to use it to power several halogen torchier freestanding lamps.

I believe I read the lamp modules wont work with this, but perhaps the appliance module will?

If the halogen bulbs are rated at line voltage (110-120VAC) a lamp module should work OK.
If on the other hand the bulbs are low voltage (12-24 V) or if the lamps have a transformer (AKA WallWort) then an appliance module is required.

Keep in mind the wattage capacity of the modules. You might need one module for each lamp. You can set more than one module to the same house and unit codes.

Important: Keep the lamps' internal dimmers set to full on; better yet, bypass them. You shouldn't cascade dimmers.

Stick to the appliance module as the fans in the lamps will not like it if you try to dim them.
