Hi. I have a pronto and a home theater system. I'd liek to add light controls now. I have done a little research and I'm planning on buying the Ocelot controller - [Link: homeautomationnet.com] no expert so I'm open to other suggestions, and also I'd like recommendations on lamp control/ dimmers.

The PCS are the best X10 dimmers followed by the Switchlinc's. Just make sure you take care of the basics and buy a good coupler repeater and filter for noise before expecting reliable service out of either. Ocelot's are had to beat for control, but are too slow for doing direct IR control of a TV for things like volume, mute and channel change. They are great otherwise,

I think I have to disagree with you Bill on that point. As a matter of fact I find the Ocelot too fast to change inputs on my 50' Toshiba TV and have to add dummy IR transmits to 'slow' things down, otherwise the TV will miss a change input command and I'll have to correct it manually (horrors!).

Thanks for the input. They may have improved this from the point when I used one for IR control, 3 or 4 years ago. I found I had a second or two delay when I asked it to change a channel, the IR output was fast but I noticed a lag in response from the remote before it began sending. It could be my program was a little long and using the older version of cmax. I love the Ocelots but have basically used them for housekeeping and some complicated temp/humidity control so I am glad to hear this feature is improved.

The latest version of CMAX does seem to have a 'tighter code' and the system mapping improves control of the modules.
