Does anyone know if the "Monitor Plus Security System" sold for $99 by X10 REQUIRES the monitoring by Orca? It doesn't explicitly state so on there web page. I have sent an e-mail to X10 and awaiting a response. I thought somebody here might already know the answer.

Thanks

IIRC Yes, however the "Protector Plus" does not. Instead it dials four numbers in rotation. The "Monitor Plus" only dials the ORCA number, IIRC.

Well, I wouldn't say it requires monitoring by Orca, Orca is just the only company that will provide monitoring for it. The unit will still work without a monitoring package.

True, if one did not require the unit to dial out to anywhere, I suppose the monitor plus would work just as well. I always thought part of the point of these units was that you could setup a fairly inexpensive autodialing system.
