I have the Magnovox light modules, an x-10 keychain switch, an IR540 for my Pronto TSU 2000, and a few other X-10 plug in modules.

I've really been interested in getting some of the recessed lighting connected through X-10 but am no where near an electrician. Are they easy (and safe) to install? How do the electric blinds or the sliding door module fair?

Thanks for your response

This is funny, I haven't frequented this forum for quite awhile, and I see nothing has changed. A little more pleasantry gets you further than being a dickhead G50... You're Welcome.

You are the only one being uncivil on this thread. I am not sure of the reasoning behind your blatent personal attack, it seams rather childish if you ask me.

Hmmm, my bad for actually talking to you, I guess. Like I said, I haven't bothered with this site for quite awhile...I come back and see you're still here, peddling your usuall borderline troll/flame personality, and it just reminded me of when you would intentionally dig up posts from a year earlier and bump them back to the top, just because you knew it irritated people. You never really add anything of value to a thread, but you have to have the last say everytime. I can see by other people's responses to you on this site just how respected you are. That does make me feel very good.

Irritate away, my friend...don't forget to have the last word here...its in your behavior pattern. You couldn't live with yourself if you didn't.

Well, here is maybe some useful information for Alexis. Recessed lighting should be no different from any other type of light. The are inwall switch modules for X-10. You replace your current wall switch for the particular light with an X-10 switch. Check out homeautomation.net for good prices and more info.

FWIW: Some Recessed lighting is low voltage (12V) so make what you get can handle them (if you have that type).

Are those in wall devices easy to install, or should I hire an electrician?

I also recently bought a coffee maker that doesn't have an electronic clock/timer so I would have to manually turn it on everymorning. How could X-10 help automate?

Can't really do a search on cool new things to do with X-10. That wouldn't be a bad idea, Daniel should ad a section detailing what functions people are achiving with X-10.

Thanks for any flame-free responses.

Al, this is the perfect forum for such topics. Nobody says it has to be questions only.

A standard appliance module is perfect for the coffee maker. I recommend a manual X-10 trigger over a timer, in case you forget to set it up the night before. However, the maker is still manually defeatable; just turn it off, and it will ignore the timed command.

X-10 wall switches install just like standard switches, except some have wires like some dimmers do. Plus, some require neutral connections, and three-way setups can be tricky. We can help here.
