Hi guys,

I have an ADT alarm panel (simon) and everytime I arm or disarm the alarm it sends out about 20 X10 commands, thus blocking any communication on my powerline for about 10-20 seconds. This is really annoying plus the commands simon is sending don't really make sense. For example if the house code is set to A it just sends out A10 like 10-15 times in a row followed by A10 ON/OFF. I contacted ADT but they don't even know what I am talking about when I mention X10. I wonder if anyone here has seen a similar problem and know how to get rid of it.

Thanks for your input.
Heiko

good luck getting the alarm installers to know what you're talking about. i also have the simon wireless alarm. when i first got the simon installed, i did some searching on the web and actually found the installer manual in pdf format and printed one out for myself. search the web and you might find it. (sorry, can't remember the site) i use my simon to activate lights (time activated lights) when i'm on vacation. i know what you mean about it sending out codes. when i first went to x10, when i would turn on my alarm, all my lights went on. i didn't want to waste energy so i had to plug in a control module outside and send the all units off command so i could get on with my vacation. i hope you can find the installer manual because it has a lot more info than the user guide we are left with.

equium,
Thanks a bunch, man.
This really helps. I was starting to get desperate after all the ignorance from the installer. I thought these people are technically trained and not technically challenged.
I am going to do some more searching. May be Simon is more flexible than I thought.

Thanks again.

funny OT story:
when i had mine installed, the guy didn't finish until late (it was already dark). during the test, the simon sends out the x10 signal to cause lamps to turn on and off. well, it just so happend that my pool light was A1 and my Spa light was A2. so during the test, these lights started to flash on and off. i also had a red filter over the pool light and a blue filter over the spa light. so now i have flashing blue and red lights in my back yard. when i pointed this out to the installer, he scratched his head and said "this is only a test. the cops shouldn't be here. why are they in your backyard? " i laughed my a$$ off. i figured it out right away and then tried to explain that it was x10. his response "x-what"
thank you, you may leave.

How about NOT USING A.D.T.? I am a very experienced alarm installer and have used X10 on many occasions. If you post more info I might be able to help, like the model number of the panel ( located on the panel cover usually in the center of the writing ), PS Simon had a few different versions. I need the version or midel number to help you.
