Hi all. Seems that the IR543 is very popular here. Hope some of you can answer a few questions and help guide me.

I will only need 3 PCS SS1L/S-600 master SmartSwitches and 2 slaves. Each device will be programmed to operate individually (no sharing addresses) yet as part of the same scenes using SceneMaster software.

The one house code limitation of the IR543 is not a problem for me, but I'm hesitant over its "10 command" limitation (or something like that).

Questions/concerns:

1) I read that the IR543 is limited to 10 IR "commands". How are commands counted for this purpose?

For example I'll have 3 master switches, each one with a unique address. So for device 1 on, off, bright, dim - does that count as 4 commands right there?

2) Likewise I want to have a few different scenes which obviously will take one command per scene. So if it turns out that the 3 devices only count as 3 commands (including the on/off/dim/bright sent for each device), and this leaves me with 7 remaining commands (10 commands minus 3 taken for devices themselves) for scenes that will be sufficient.

3) Does anyone know of a good electrical wiring tutorial you can refer me to? I am not familiar with electrical wiring and 4 ways etc, and I'd like a good tutorial so I'm up to speed for the installation. I looked in the box where my 4 way is connected and there's 5 feeds coming into there and wires going every which way (and doesn't help that there's a separate switch in the same 2 gang box for a different set of lights). Not sure if I'll be able to figure that out! Its a bit intimdating.

Thanks!

1. If you have a remote like a pronto or MX700 you are not limited to 10, but 16. The 10 limit is normally because of the 1-9 and 0 buttons. With custom screens you can get 16 also some remotes use other buttons for 11-16. 1 on, bright, dim, off, is only one command.

2. Correct, if you have more than a half dozen scenes it get confusing anyway.

3. TN Larry did some drawings that are real good see: [Link: homeautomationnet.com]

Thanks
