I put in a [Link: smarthome.com] but when it gets cold it basically stops working. can anyone recommend a cold weather motion sensor that I can use in my un-heated garage - in Michigan.

thanks

Assuming that you're looking for a light motion detector, just go to somebody like home depot, lowes, CTC or electrical supply shop. They supply add on motion detector for lights that work in a wide variety of temps. I've had no problems with these devices in temps as low as -35c.

I want something that is X10 based so I can perform macros - "when motion in garage turn on lights in garage and entry hallway and turn up thermostate"...

Why don't you use a magnetic contact on the door (entry or garage) or a contact mat, if your having problems with motion. You could use a PSC01 powerfash hard wired to the contact.

I had not thought of that. that is a better idea - I'll need one on both the garage door as well as the door leading into the house (I hate having to fumble for the light switch when I have my hands full coming out of the house) but that will work better.

Any suggestions on good products?

If you do a search on our site for contact, we have some good ones. If you order make a note it's for a garage door and I will put the large gap model in with your order. These two pieces and eithe 1 or 2 PSC01's (you could wire both contacts to one) and you have it. Of course you need some sort of X10 receivers that you will be turning on.
