Is there a controller (from X10 or elsewhere, but not *too* expensive) which can do the following:

First of all, I'd like it to be able to operate stand-alone. It can be connected to the computer for programming, but then should be able to run its programming without computer connection. It should be able to receive X10 commands, as well as transmit them. And, it should have if/then logic.

What I'd like to do is this. Have many receivers configured on four different housecodes. Have maxi-controllers set to a fifth housecode. Use maxi-controller 13, 14, 15, 16 buttons to command programmable controller to change to first, second, third, fourth housecode, after which all maxi-controller commands and numbers 1-12 (on the fifth housecode) would be repeated by the programmable controller on the most recently configured housecode. This allows controlling all four housecodes (12 devices on each) from one controller without changing the housecode wheel.

Finally, is there a better/less expensive/alternative way of doing this?

Look at the Ocelot [Link: homeautomationnet.com]
I think it's the only reasonbly priced stand alone that will do what you want. Software based programs like Homeseer would also work.

I agree with Bill. The Ocelot is a great, stand-alone X10 controller. A google search will reveal an excellent article about Ladder Logic and the Ocelot with programming examples.
