Morning: I have the same challange... I was working in the Pronto forum instead of this one, read below.
My goal is integrate X-10 into my Prontos.
My question is can I then take the prontos all over the house like I can with the X-10 remotes? Or is it just in the room where the pronto RF extender and other device are?
And lastly, how much should I expect to pay for these two parts?

Do I have to buy the RF extender for the ProntoPro. I'm adding more and more x-10 and would like to integrate. When I tap on the remote icon on the Pro I see an RF button.
Please advise if I need the extender or does the Pro already throw a RF signal?

Also, I am trying to get X10 activehome up and running, but I only have one com port on my computer. Both x10 and pronto base require the use of the port. Any ideas? Thanks,

Neither. You need to buy an IR543 or IR543AH which converts IR to X10. You can then control that using IR from your Pronto.
As for serial ports, once you have your CCF set up, you won't need to have the Pronto cable connected very often.

Hi
I think you are getting your protocols confused. The Philips module is an RF extender not X-10, in order to to use X-10 the IR543 takes the Infrared code output from the Pronto, changes it into an X-10 protocol and sends it out through your house wiring to control your devices. The Philips module can understand RF codes from your Pronto and turn them into IR, so you could control devices that were hidden in a cabinet or placed in another room. Two different functions.

Big help, I am more than confused, I'm lost.
Spent a month perfecting my CCF, now I've added X10 to the mix and am fired up about getting everything integrated.
My error was I assumed RF and X10 spoke the same language.
My goal is to substitute the remote controls that come with the X10, I have 4 of the big remotes and integrate everything into my prontos. So in essence, I can walk all over the house and control all lights with the pronto just like I can with the x10 remotes. Is this doable???

Yes, this would be doable if you get the RFX6000 base for your ProntoPro and then stick on an IR emitter in front of the IR543.
The scheme would then be ProntoPro RF to RF extender that converts to IR for the IR543 module that controls X10.
On the other hand, I recall seeing something about direct control of X10 with the ProntoPro RF. Try searching the forum.
