Ok all after about two months of bad customer service with my local blind store I now have a set of Hunter douglas shades setup with my X10 system. I ordered the Hunter Douglas shades with the "Powerise" system. This system normally uses a small handheld IR remote. However they do sell an infrared adapter that interfaces with the X10 system. The shade itself was around 400 for a large 5 foot by 7 foot window. The X10 stuff was fairly cheap. The only things required are a 2 way power interface available most places with x10 stuff that runs about 20 bucks. Then from Hunter Douglas there is a "X10 adapter with infrared transmitter" That ran about 50 bucks. The system works great. You can program the codes for up and down. The only thing I don't like is that you can't have the shade stop halfway using the x10 part, but you can with the remote.

I assume you know that the PowerRise can be made to stop at a pre-set point going up.

yes deane I did. I just wish you could set say several pre-sets so that if you hit the button again it would go up another level, not a big deal though. I may eventually dump the hunter douglas powerise when I get my RF extender for my pronto and then run one of the IR cords from the Rf extender , then I would be able to program macros to stop the shades at various points.

Be aware that not all controllers are able to learn the PowerRise code. Because the PowerRise has a "sleep circuit" to keep battery drain down, it has to be awakened when the IR is sent. The IR code is repeated several times for this reason. Some controllers, such as Crestron and Ocelot want to "clean up" the code, and PoweRise doesn't want it "cleaned up". The better the controller, such as Crestron, the more trouble it has.

The code works very well with Pronto, but I don't have any idea how it will work with the RF extender. Just wanted to give you a heads-up on a problem that has bugged a lot of users and one we are just now figuring out the reasons for.
