Hi, I'm new to the forum so please take it easy on me. Yes - I read the previous post and read Chris' X-10 fundamentals post - Great by the way! My Issue: I bought a remote, 3 rocker switches, 1 lamp module and transeiver. Installed it and it all worked great for about two weeks. Then, only the lamp module worked - all 3 rocker switches stoped. Tried troubleshooting and calling X10.com, but no relief. All of a sudden, everything now works fine - go figure. A couple of variables did change in my house and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if this may be the reason it now works. First, I had a dedicated 20amp electrical service ran to a closet where I relocated all my A/V equipment. In addition, I added a Panamax 1000 surge supressor/line conditioner to my A/V setup. Could these "new" addtions have cleaned-up my household electricity where the X-10 devices would start working again? Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide a possible explanation.

Running the dedicated 20amp service is what did it! I have had homes that gave me fits and once we ran a dedicated line for the A/V system, the X-10 has worked perfectly. If you do start to encounter problems again, you may want to look into an amplified coupler if you don't have one.

On a side note, Panamax is the best surge protector but is the worst for X-10 noise problems. If you start to see problems again, try unplugging the Panamax and see how it works. You may look into filters if this happens.

Chris,
Thanks for your quick response. I guess sometimes good accidents do happen. After troubleshooting it for a month, I gave up on X-10 altogether because I did not know X-10 requires "clean" power. But my accident and your article has put me back into home automation again via X-10 device. Thanks, I appreciate your insight.
