I read that you can not control a lamp that has a built in dimmer on it. Now is one of those lights that you can change bulb intensities (50,100,150 watt)in that group. Also read that these lights can be rewired to work. Also those long life bulbs i believe they are flurensent also do not work with X-10

If the light has an internal electronic dimmer then you'll have to use an appliance (relay) module so the X10 will just turn it on or off.
A 3-way lamp is not a problem. Set the lamp the highest setting then use an X10 lamp module to control intensity.
The flourescent bulbs would have to go on an appliance (relay) module. No dimming.

A keypad can't control a load. You'd have to put in an in-line module to control the light.

A switch completes a circuit to turn on a load -- a keypad sends an X-10 signal over the power line.
