OK, this should work, right? I program a discrete power code into my Prontopro using PPedit and pasting a discrete on/off power code into PPedit. I then download into the ProntoPro and teach this code to Oscelot for using in a macro. And all is wonderful in the world.
Anything wrong with my logic, here?
Thanks,
Wayne

Nope, I cant see anything wrong with that logic. If the discrete command works from the Pronto, it should work from the Ocelot. There seems to be a couple of manufacturers that the ocelot has a bit of difficulty with, but basically all the mainstream should work fine.

That would work fine, but you have to make sure your not sending IR from your pronto AND the ocelot to the same device. You could 'confuse' the peice of gear and it will do nothing. The best bet is to use some old remote control that you no longer use as a macro trigger and learn that code into the Ocelot and Pronto. Use the ocelots IR to control the gear that way.

Cam and Matt, thanks for your input. I had planned on downloading a component CCF for my Pro from a piece of equipment that I don't have and use the IR codes from that as my activation IR commands, avoiding the situation you described Matt. I am having fun thinking up scenarios that the Ocelot can handle...may not implement all of these but its fun daydreaming about what it can do.

Wayne

Yeah, Its a great little piece of equipment. One of the most useful things I use it for at the moment is as an alarm clock. In the morning the ocelot will turn on the reciever in the bedroom, turn the volume to zero as its powering up, change the input to tuner, then slowly over 10 mins (2 min intervals) turn the volume up to a comfortable level. I find this is a great way to wake up. I even thought about having an x10 transmitted 'snooze' button, but am having a bit of trouble with x10 at the moment.

Cheers, Cam

Cool idea cammo,

I had an idea of putting a micro switch in my chair so when I sit down the main power kicks in...I live alone, so no problems..but I could see problems arise if you have a dog or something!!

Cam, that's a great idea...hadn't thought of that. I have speakers in my bedroom and in the family room, driven from the HT system in the den but rarely use the bedroom speakers. Thanks,
Wayne

I am curious here. I am thinking of buying the Ocelot and have the Pronto 2000 now. I did not realize that the Pronto could control the Ocelot and the x10 device that are controlled by it.

Would I need something else?

Well, you'd need your X10 devices but the Pront/Ocelot combo is all you need on the control side.
