A question regarding controlling of AV/Kit and Lights from a macro using a pronto - in order for the Lights to be turned of would the pronto have to be pointing at the IR on the Light switch, then pointed back to the AV kit to turn that on??

E.g. I want to press one button on the Pronto to Dim lights then turn on AV kit - would I point it at the IR on the light switch then quickly turn it to the AV kit as this seems a bit fiddly

Any suggestions/flames etc appreciated :)

Gary there is no IR on the light switches. The IR is received by the transceiver, which can be located with you other equipment. For a detailed explanation see [Link: how.to]

Gary,

Your statement is 101% correct. A option would be to put a IR repeater in by your AV equipment and hardwire an emitter to you light switch by fishing the wire inside the wall to the J-box. You did not mention what brand of lighting switch you were using. I have done this set up for all too many people and the result is 100% perfect. never had a complaint doing it this way. A repeater system can run anywhere from 100.00 up to 300.00 bucks. One more option is to put a high-output IR blaster in the room and point it at the light switch. this way works untill somebody or thing blocks the IR receiver on the light switch.

Good luck.

Yes, I should have been more spacific. There are no X10 IR switches. There are several other technologies, Lutron Spacer comes to mind.

Yeah, you tend to assume that when someone posts a question in the X10 Forum they're talking about X10 switches... :)
