Hi,

My X10 works great but when I switch on my DVD & AMP it stops responding to on-off commands, it still works with dim/brighten.

if I move the unit away from the TV everything is fine , Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Your DVD and/or amp are producing noise on the powerline which is drowning out the X10 signals. You'll need plug-in noise filters between your DVD & amp and the wall outlet to fliter out the noise. I put all my A/V equipment on power strips with those strips being plugged into filters.

Look at the AF100, AF120, AC100, & XPF at [Link: homeautomationnet.com], that's what we use in the US, then look for the comparable devices on the UK X10 sites.

Julian,

Sounds like electrical magnetic interference with the workings of the X10 unit. Are we talking about and IR543? It may be that you have to keep the unit away. You might also try running separate ground wire, to the case of your components. There is certainly no requirement that X10 be located on top of your equipment.

Hi Bill,

Thanks, That makes sence, I have now relocated the unit 1 meter away from my DVD player ( the offending item ) and all works well,

Its a UK IR7243 unit.

It is still pluged into the same outlet so it was obviously Interference from the DVD,

Regards

Julian
