What I have:
Cinema 7 non-learning
2 x-10 lamp modules on 2 lamps
The lamps HOWEVER, are not controlled by any wall switch in the room.

What I want to do:
Be able to hit my dvd button on C7 and the lights slowly fade to off as the movie starts.

What I need:
I know I would need the IR543
But what can I use for the slow dimming when hitting the dvd play button for the lamps since they are not on any wall switch in this room?

Hope this makes sense.

TIA

There are a couple of ways to do it.

1. Replace the lamp modules with the PCS Multi-Module so that the lamps will resond to scenes. Since you don't have a learning remote you'll either need to use separate keystrokes to start the movie and initiate the lighting scene or you'll need an IR transceiver that will learn the DVD's IR code. For that you can use the HAN-01 or Ocelot.

2. If you don't want to replace the lamp modules then you'll need an automation controller which can do the slow fade for you. The Ocelot would be able to do that.

3. If you want to stick with the IR543 you could if you go with the PCS Multi-Module for the lamps and replace your remote with a remote that can do a macro which would send the DVD's command followed by the X10 command for starting the scene.

You can see all of these products at http://www.homeautomationnet.com/

Thanxs.

Does the PCS Multi-Modules require that I have to change out the current outlets? Or is it something that I can just plug into the current outlets then plug the lamp mods into it?

TIA

They plug into the existing outlets and have a screw that firmly attaches them so they won't come loose.

Wow this is getting confusing. Can someone just give me a list of what I need and where to order it from x10 or from homeautomattionnet. Thanks!
I would prefer the good setup if I hit pause or stop let the lights go back on etc.

Cris,

IR543
PCS MM2L/S-800 For plug in's
PCS SS1L/S-600 For incandescent on switches
PHC02 maxi controller for programming

The are other ways to do this you could use cheaper products and write macros to dim, but this is the best and most precise way to get theater affects.
