I am very disappointed with the performance of the night watch camera from X10. I don't believe it works any better at low light then the xcam does. I guess that is why they are so cheap. Does anyone have a Recommendation for a good low light camera?

Thank you!

Unfortunately, unless you're going to buy a military type light amplification unit, no camera is going to "see" with absolutely no light.

However, many are very sensitive to Infra Red light. If you can flood the area you want to view with infra red, then the a good IR sensitive camera would "see" the scene, but people wouldn't. It looks a bit eerie, but acceptable.

That's been my experience, at least.

Do a search on this thread. I think someone several months ago said he was having good luck with a cheap camera from Target(?).

I have two B&W cameras from Target (and a few xcam2s which I mostly don't use anymore.) They have IR LEDs on them to make them much better in low light. So I use these as my primary cameras.

Even though they might not be on the Target website, I saw them in my local store here last week. There is a recent thread on the homeseer bulletin board on this subject. It states that there are similar cameras available at Kmart I think.

I've bought a couple of the bullet cameras with a built-in IR lights. They will see about 20-30 feet in the dark. The cheapest I've found them are about $99.00 from www.spycameras4less.com. I am not affiliated with this site, I just bought from them.
