I want to be able to program my pronto to run my av system. Unfortunately two of my components are Toshiba products (40h80 tv/dst300 sat receiver). I tried unplugging both pieces while on and plugging them back it to see if they would power up and indeed they do. My question is what module would i need for both of these. I already have the ir543. My last question is; am i going to lose all my profiles, etc on either my satellite or tv when the units power off?? My satellite goes into setup mode when i unplug it and plug it back in. Will I have this same effect with an x-10 module? Someone please help!

I use the Appliance Module for my Toshiba television. Sorry, but I can't help you about the Sat. Receiver.

If there are not descrete codes for your equip it may be best just to learn the power on/off code and use it as a toggle. That would really be the same as using a appliance module but you would not lose your settings. You did'nt mention what remote you use but if has learning capability it should be able to learn your remote codes. As for your satellite receiver have you considered just leaving it on all the time. It dosen't use that much power. I have had my DSS receiver on now for four years.

I don't believe that the television looses its settings. I had me television unplugged for a few days and the settings (I've only made one setting adjustment to the set's contrast) remained the same as I left them.

One problem that caused me to stop using the Appliance Module was that loud and annoying click that sounds when turning the unit on or off.

So what do you use now if you don't use the appliance module?

I just use the toggle on/off command in the Pronto macro. It rarely does not respond to the command, and when it doesn't I just go through the motions of turning it on. Unfortunately it doen't respond by turning on when you choose another command, such as channel up or down.
