I have just checked the thread on the Ocelot X10 controller and would like to find out the next level about it. I have the ActiveHome setup but would like to have a non-pc controller type.

I would like to keep the cost between $200 and $300, the closer to $200 the better. I presume that at this range, I would need a used controller.

Any suggestions? URL of sites would be very helpful.

I would suggest the JDS Stargate Lite but new they are about $600 and you might have to do some hunting to find a used one - or you might consider the JDs Time Commander which is less - sorry I can't suggest a source for used ones except to check eBay and ask here, on the JDS list, and in comp.home.automation.

Good Luck, Jim.

I have the predecessor to the Ocelot (CPU-XA)and it is essentially the same unit. I could not be happier. The problems I had with the Active Home wer extensive, although I was not running it from my computer. It had a very high number of false triggers that I got fed up with it. The Ocelot (CPU-XA) works so good and the programming is fantastic. I do so many things transparent to the houshold memebers, that they forget it is working for them in the background.

Theres also the smartlink houselinc. Thats only $200 and has a Built-in 8 device IR controller. And its all stand alone.

Of course you could just upgrade to HomeSeer and get more control than whats available in any standalone device.

Lou - it probably would be easier to suggest options if we had some idea what types of things you want to control, ie: do you need IR, relays, plan to use hardwired motion sensors, etc.?

Lou,
You can find more information on the Ocelot at www.appdig.com ,the manual and software can be downloaded from links within the ADICON page.
I like the Ocelot, but then I'm biased, as it is my product. Check out comp.home.automation for user feedback on the various controllers.
Check smarthome.com, homecontrols.com, worthdist.com for pricing comparisons on the controllers.
Happy Hunting!!
