What you want are receivers (switches and modules) with scene capability.

You need to get some switchlinc LS switches. These have sceen feature that lets you set a certain level for additional addresses.

IE: Lamp A1 and A2 are set to come on to 50% when B1 is received. At the same time lamp A3 and A4 are set to 25%. This lets you send one command to bring multiple lights to a set level at once.

dim the living room lights down while the Dining room lights brighten.

For that perfect "Oooh Aaah" effect at thanksgiving.

As Larry and Biglarg state above you need switches that are scene capable. These switches are programable. You can set dim rates and also levels. Each switch works independently from each other but can all be operated with one X10 command. I use PCS smart switches and am very happy with them. Check them out at [Link: homeautomationnet.com]

Why won't x10 make a scene capable switch? or is there one out there. I'd heard a while back that it was being considered.

Either that, or code for my Pronto would be nice.:o)

I think X-10 is to busy selling bad video cameras and sending out email and vouchers - lol.

They really don't seem interested in making good switches - PCS does though.

Cheers, Jim (who does not own any PCS switches)

While PCS makes good switches, they are a bitch to program. If youre looking for a nice feeling wall switch that has scenes take a look at the Switchlinc LS.

The Switclinc LS is about $24 more per switch than the PCS switch. I think that's worth learning a more complex programming procedure.
