complete home automation!! 39 wall switches, at least 10 wall outlets, 10-15 appliance modules,5-8 inline modules.

What would i use to control ALL of the devices. I have a pronto and would love to control everything from it. I did the RF conversion posted a few weeks ago so I could walk around the house and control anything in any room.

Is this possible with X-10 or would I be better off with something else?

Controlling such a large number of devices individually would be a daunting task. I'd strongly recommend concentrating on receivers which can do scenes. That way a handful of whole house scenes, a handful of scenes per room, and a handful of path-way scenes would keep everything managable and could be controlled through your pronto, a series of in-wall keypads, and some RF transmitters.

If your house is large enough to have 39 wall switches, I expect that you will need a coupler/repeater - and I assume that you will want switches with true rocker action and scene capability as Larry suggested and also assume that you would eventually want to automate further with the addition of a JDS Stargate or ADI Ocelelot smart contoller.

You can do all of this with the devices that you call out for a few thousand dollars.

'Better' is a hardwired system but the cost is probably 5 or more likely 10 times that of an X-10 system.

Btw, you might want to test a wall outlet or appliance module before you install a lot of them to see if the loud thunk that they make is acceptable to you.

Cheers, Jim.
