Hi Guys,
Do you know if Philips have some kind of developers kit that documents the RS232 interface? I would need the ability to trigger individual IR sequences
from the PC as well as learn sequences.

This is to use a custom VBscript to carry out timed events by using Pronto which connected to my PC.

Regards,

Omar,

I don't "know" if they have a developer's Kit, but I doubts it. It's definitely a closed platform.

What you're trying to do doesn't sound too hard, though. Serial communications are fairly well supported in Visual Basic, and the Baud rate and transfer protocals of the Pronto are around here somewhere. What would be ideal is to find some way of "watching" the serial port while the ProntoEdit emulator is running and communicating with the Pronto.

Good luck in your pursuit. Keep us posted.

If your needs for computer triggered events aren't complicated, you may be interested in how easy I found it to modify a Oneforall Cinema remote to allow X10 triggering of it's macro buttons. I've got to go look up the actual web link, but I'll post it in the next message.

Hi Dave,

Thank you very much for your reply...
What am I trying to do is;
I am testing HomeSeer and HAL2000 for voice commands.
As you know these products use CU12 to control X10 devices which I have no problem, actually it works better than I expected. The problem is; software can do more than just turn on/off lights it can turn on the TV/Video..volume up/down etc. In order to do this you need to have an interface supported by these products e.g HomeVision (£400), Smartlinc(£££), PC IR
etc. which is an extra cost to me. I already have a Pronto fully configured to control my x10 devices as well as my video/audio. If only can find a way to interface with it using HomeSeer or HAL2000 or any other software..

Regards
Omar
