Does any one know of a place in the Montreal or Ottawa area to buy X10. I am thinking of it as a Christmas present and I doubt there is enough time to get it over the net. (Plus this will be my first X10 experience, so a local store has some advantages)

If your going the X10 route, then buy from www.x10.com directly. They are registered with Revenu Canada for the GST, and they ship Parcel Post 4 days. Nobody can touch their prices.

Also I purchased X10 Pro switches and standard X10 switches, same models,(the first cost $24.00 CDN from Addisson, and the second $11.00 CDN from X10.com), I opened them up to see the difference. THERE IS NONE.

Right. If you order from X10.com for Canada the order is shipped from Mississauga, Ontario. So you pay exactly what X-10 quotes you (7% GST will be added to the prices).

An alternate, which I have used and is great, is BORDERFREE.COM. It allows you to shop on ANY U.S. Web Site. They will quote you a price in Canadian dollars including all shipping, customs, etc. charges. You receive an email when your quote is ready (normally less than 1 hour) and you can Accept, Reject or Modify it. So there are no surprise charges that appear at a later date. It works well.

Try it if you find some great deals on US sites as I have found at times.

I JUST BOUGHT A THREE CAMERA DEAL. VERY PLEASED.
NOBODY CAN BEAT BUYING DIRECT. I GET IMPRESSION A GOOD TIME TO BUY IS AT END OF MONTH. SALES AND SERVICE UNBEATABLE=WELL NOT QUITE -I'M STILL WAITING ON AN EMAIL QUESTION. THEY APPEAR TO DO A LOT OF BUSINESS.
I HAVE A DISABILITY AND THESE PRODUCTS ENHANCE MY LIFSTYLE. THESE ARE GREAT GIFT ITEMS. SOME THES ITEMS ARE AVAILABLE AT RADIO SHACK=UNDER THEIR NAME AT MUCH HIGHER PRICES. IE.SWITCHES CONTROLLERS. SEE CAT.
