Hello,

Need some elementary assistance. I have a T3, IR-Pro dealer pack, RM-433 and three RM-232's.

Will be controlling a Sanyo VPL-WF10 projector, Integra Research RDC 7.0 A/V Processor and a Key Digital System HD-Leeza 1080i Video Processor with the RM-232's. Other components will be integrated with typical IR emitters.

Being new to the RTI products and NEVER used the RS-232 protocol, I am not understanding how to program the RS-232 language.

I have the basic feel for the TheaterTouch 3.0v editing software and understand how to set the T3 to send either IR , RF or both IR/RF commands. What I do not understand is how to program the RS232 commands.

I assume I will have to get the discrete RS232 codes from Sanyo, Intregra Research and KDS... from there I am unclear of the actual programming.

Anyone care to give some thorough instructions?
Thanks,

Darren www.cinemaathome.biz

i have programmed the t2+ and the t2 for rs232 and know what to do.

You will need the 232 codes for each device. For example, Lutron has a 232 code book that will give you the parameters. If you are programming an SDL or a grafik eye, or even a phantom button, you can do it exactly as you would like using 232 codes (provided you have the Lutron chronos, or other 232 receiver).

you will need to set the baud, parity, data bits, stop bits and output port on the rp6 and you will need an rm 232 for each...each coming off it's own port on the rp6 (i am assuming the t3 sends to a receiving unit like the t2+)

I have programmed a sony g90, toshiba and panasonic plasma, faroudja products, different video switchers including kds, the kds hd leeza, an arcam av8, theta cb III, lutron chronos, etc.. Of all of these, the leeza was singly the worst component i tried to do...both manually and rs 232. It was difficult for me to get it to stay adusted, and even when it did...it didn't look right. i finally scraped the leeza and the kds video switcher (although the switcher worked correctly, it had too narrow a bandwidth to work correctly with hd stuff).

an example of programming for the arcam av8 might read...

baud rate 38400, parity none ; data bits 8 ; stop bits 1 and output port Port 3.

Be careful not to have the Hex button clicked or you will add the ascii string in as hex characters. again this is assuming the t3 programs like the theatertouch designer for the t2+.

the string would look like this in 232 .... Z1Pwr1\r. Notice it is \r NOT \n or something else. I have found manuals wrong... example strings in codes wrong, etc.

Once you get it right, you will never want to use anything but 232. It does take some practice to get there.

RS 232 gets the codes every time. Exactly what you want to do...will happen with RTI and 232 codes. This is the real beauty of RTI.

I can help you if you would like...just email me
